EradiSpeed+
versions are direct OEM replacement units, but the plus indicates rotors which are of a two-piece design. The center hat, or hub/hat portion of EradiSpeed+ rotors are CNC machined from billet or forged aluminum. The centers are then anodized black to finish the look and are bolted to the rotors with National Aerospace Standard (NAS) stainless, reusable fasteners, the same hardware used to affix the rotors to an Indy Car. With their two-piece design, EradiSpeed+ units also provide a welcome reduction in total rotor weight.
EradiSpeed+ (PLUS) Direct Replacement 2-piece Rotor Benefits:
No change in wheels is ever required
Dramatically reduced weight
Increased heat absorption
Faster thermal recovery
High resistance to stress cracking
Increased friction, low wear, from proprietary iron specification
Greater airflow efficiency through curved vane or Kangaroo port design
Location of holes directly behind vane structure to arrest and limit migration of stress fractures from crossdrilling
Elimination of outgassing
Greater bite or initial onset of friction
Equalized pad surface wear
Improved wet weather performance
Brilliant rust resistant surfaces
Dynamic visual impact
Just as
plus-one
in the wheel and tire world has come to mean, a wheel which is a size larger than the original, EradiSpeed+1 describes a set of rotors of a size larger than the original, which will still work with original calipers. This results in increased performance (brake torque) by virtue of the increased leverage of the larger diameter rotor.
For
ES+1
applications, Baer provides all the hardware required to move the location of the stock factory caliper outward. In some cases an intermediate bracket is employed, in others new factory style caliper anchor plates are provided. In all cases, except as noted, +1 upgrades install without bleeding the brakes and many, such as the ES+1 for the rear of the C5, also fit the OE wheels.
All
ES+1 rotors
are larger in outer diameter than the OE rotor they replace and many are of a two-piece design. However, in some cases, such as the rear of the 1999 and later GM 1/2 -ton pickups, or 2000 and later 1/2-ton SUV applications, the rear rotor is cast as a one-piece design to allow the park brake mechanism, which is a small drum located inside the rotor hat unit, to function properly.
EradiSpeed+1 (PLUS-1) Increased Diameter/Torque Rotor & Bracket Systems:
Many fit OE wheels (those requiring larger wheels are noted)
Increased leverage produces increased brake torque
Increased heat absorption
Faster thermal recovery
High resistance to stress cracking
Increased friction, low wear, from proprietary iron specification
Greater airflow efficiency through curved vane or Kangaroo port design
Location of holes directly behind vane structure to arrest and limit migration of stress fractures from crossdrilling
Elimination of outgassing
Greater bite or initial onset of friction
Equalized pad surface wear
Improved wet weather performance
Brilliant rust resistant surfaces
Dynamic visual impact
Dramatically reduced weight (applies to two-piece units)
